Julián Carranza Pulido is a talented 12-year-old  who has conquered our hearts with his way of mastering the accordion

By Oswell Reza

At an early age, Julián Carranza Pulido showed his taste for music; he was ten years old when he first began to interact with the keyboard. Close enough to realize that this was, in part, what he wanted to do to satisfy a taste that would later become a vocation, because at the age of 11 his maternal grandfather, Mr. Fernando Pulido, saw in his beloved grandson not only the qualities to stand out, but the aptitudes of a talented young man who, along with his studies and his varied complements of his age, could develop to begin to forge a path within the musical artistic field.

“My grandson started playing the accordion for pure entertainment, he did it through an app called Mezquite. So one day I told him that if he managed to learn “las mañanitas” song, I would buy him a real accordion so that he could practice and learn it on another level and he did. One day he simply came and told me that he had already achieved it and I was so impressed that, undoubtedly, his tenacity encouraged me to keep my word and buy him his first accordion”, Mr. Fernando Pulido proudly said.

Julián’s siblings, Daniel and Stephanie, 15 and 14 years old respectively, support and motivate him in each of his performances. Daniel, for example, who at one time was also influenced by the trumpet, sometimes plays second while his sister Stephanie accompanies his arrangements with dances to the rhythm of the melodies.

“I like learning new things and it is thanks to my mom and my grandfather that I am here, but also to my siblings who support me; besides the accordion, I also play the clarinet, the trumpet, the guitar, and the keyboard. I like mathematics and I try to take advantage of everything with joy. At the Cinco de Mayo Festival I  had the opportunity to be on stage playing with Los Nobles, but I have also done it with Calibre 50 and Los Dos Carnales, and I am very happy about those achievements”, said  Julián, a gifted child who lives his life like any other boy his age.

“As a mother, I can only say that I feel very proud of each of my children. I have always supported their steps and what they want to do, encouraging them to discover and explore their tastes. It is not easy because each one seeks different goals, but with patience and love, and above all with a lot of family unity, we have managed to make a great team together with the leader of the band who is my dad. So I invite all the moms and dads who may be reading this article to highlight the talent of their children. Don’t ignore their concerns and try to encourage them to achieve their dreams,” said Wendy Pulido Hernández, Julián’s mother,.

“Outside there are many negative distractions, a lot of danger, and the best we can do is see for them and their needs without forgetting that they are children and have to live their lives as such. We do not demand that my grandson do this as a priority, but that he does it with dedication and responsibility when he dedicates his time to it, and he does it. In his spare time he plays with his brothers, and he has hobbies typical of his age and I think that’s the key. Let him be the child that he is, have fun and enjoy what he does. For this reason, I do not want to miss the opportunity to thank Luis Fernando Bustos, who, as an accordionist, has provided great education to my grandson by donating his time to give him classes on everything he knows about this wonderful instrument. Likewise, Joy Camarillo with whom at some point he developed in the musical band Los Traviesos”, emphasized Mr. Fernando.
