Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Planning Commission of the City of South Sioux City, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 4:00 o’clock p.m. in the South Sioux City Council Chambers, 1615 1st Avenue which meeting will be open to the public in the matter of a conditional use permit request to allow a commercially zoned property for a residence in a C3 zoning district. The property is located at 401 1st Avenue, South Sioux City, NE, legally described as Lots 1 and 2, Block 55 Covington Addition.

Notice of Public Comment Period Begins
The City of South Sioux City today announces the beginning of the public comment period for the draft Goal Zero – Community Action Plan, a tool to help strengthen the community’s approach to roadway safety, save lives and reduce injuries. The City has incorporated Complete Streets principles into plans and regulations as appropriate. The Council has approved adopting a Zero Goal toward eliminating fatal and serious injuries for all road users; thus, creating a safe system for all.
A strategy-driven blueprint, the Goal Zero – Community Action Plan is designed to build capacity and guide resources to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries in the city. It is also a requirement by the U.S. Department of Transportation for localities to qualify for funding under the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. South Sioux City residents are encouraged to review and provide input on the draft Goal Zero – Community Action Plan during the public comment period of August 18, 2022 to August 30, 2022. The draft Goal Zero – Community Action Plan can be accessed on the South Sioux City Website: https://www.southsiouxcity.org/egov/apps/document/center.egov?view=item&id=5567. Comments and questions about the draft plan should be sent to [email protected].
The public can also provide feedback on the document during an open house at City Hall, where participants can attend in-person prior to the regularly scheduled Public Works Committee Meeting. This opportunity will allow participants to identify problem areas on the map and discuss traffic concerns scheduled from 4:30pm to 5:30pm on August 18, 2022 at City Hall, 1615 1st Avenue, South Sioux City, NE.
