Arrest Related to Homicide at the Comfort Inn and Suites Hotel in Omaha

Omaha police announced an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred at the Comfort Inn and Suites hotel, located near 70th and Grover streets, north of I-80. According to investigators, Daniel Nickels was arrested in Missouri.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Esmeralda Vargas, was the focus of the investigation that began last Monday, December 4, when officers responded to a report of a woman with a chest wound inside the hotel facilities. Once on scene, the Omaha Fire Department provided medical attention to Ms. Vargas and transported her to a hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.
