The South Sioux City Police Department, with grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation- Highway Safety Office (NDOT), will be working alongside NDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for the Drive Sober or get Pulled Over enforcement campaign.
This campaign will run from August 16 through September 2, 2024- which includes the Labor Day holiday weekend. During the 2022 Labor Day holiday, there were 490 crash fatalities nationwide. Among drivers between the ages of 18 and 34 who were killed in crashes over the Labor Day holiday in 2022, 47% of those drivers were drunk, with BACs of .08 or higher. During this upcoming Labor Day holiday, and every day, if you choose to go out and drink call a cab- call an uber- have a designated driver. Your life, and the lives of other motorists could depend on it. Drive Sober or get Pulled Over.
