Congressman Brad Ashford Hosts Veterans Jobs Summit

OMAHA –Congressman Brad Ashford is pleased to announce a free one-day community event geared toward putting veterans to work.

His 2nd Annual Veterans Jobs Summit will be held Tuesday July 26th at the Ramada Inn Convention Center at 3321 S. 72nd St., Omaha.

“Providing veterans and their military families with the employment resources and tools they need to succeed is one of my top priorities,” said Congressman Ashford. “Nearly 100 exhibitors—ranging from corporations and small businesses to non-profit, government and educational organizations—will be on site, ready and willing to extend a hiring hand.”

Who: Rep. Brad Ashford, transitioning members of the military, veterans and their families, dozens of businesses and various federal, state and local agencies.

When: Tuesday July 26th, Noon-6pm.

Where: Ramada Inn Convention Center, 3321 S. 72nd St., Omaha.

 

The summit features:

  • Business Seminars:  For veterans interested in starting their own business and a Job Fair connecting veterans directly with this region’s premier employers.
  • Health Screening: Veterans will be screened for blood pressure, diabetes along with eye exams and body mass index.
  • Resource Seminars: Updates on the Omaha National Cemetery and assistance available through the Veterans Administration.

The Job Fair is designed to connect veterans with employers who recognize the valuable assets—unique leadership skills, security clearances, understanding of cutting-edge technology—that comes from a military background. Veterans will also be connected with programs and services for which they may be eligible.

  • Veterans in attendance will be available to speak with members of the media throughout the day (please respect their privacy should they decline).
  • Congressman Ashford will be available to speak with members of the media immediately following his introductory remarks at 12:45pm.
