Grand Island’s Hehnke signs to play softball at Northeast

NORFOLK – A Grand Island Senior High School softball player has signed to play with Northeast Community College this fall. Coach Iris Woodhead said she has recruited Chandler Hehnke to join the Hawks in Fall 2017.

At Grand Island, Hehnke was a member of the softball team all four years. She played tennis for three years and was also a member of the JV basketball team her freshman year. She has also played competitive traveling softball for four years.

Hehnke has earned a number of softball honors, including a spot on the Lincoln Journal Star Academic All-State team in her junior and senior years, Heartland Athletic Academic All-Conference in her sophomore, junior and senior years, as well as Class A Freshman Softball All State.

She plans to play second base and pitcher for Northeast.

Alayna Allen, of Columbus High School, also signed recently with the Hawks.
