Yesenia Peck resigns from the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans

Omaha, Nebraska. – Yesenia Peck, as the Chair of the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans on Thursday, October 13th, 2022, at the public quarterly meeting of this organization, announced her decision of not accepting nominations to be reelected for the same position. On Monday, October 17th, 2022, Peck announced her resignation as commissioner to the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans, effective immediately.

While I had the opportunity to run and continue as Chair of the Commission for another year, I made a decision for myself and my family to decline re-election and to cease working with the commission.  While I will continue working with the Latino/Hispanic communities throughout the state in my various roles. I will not be with the commission.  I am happy with the direction of the commission, and I am positive that the Commissioners and new Executive Director Maria Arriaga, will continue positive momentum with the Governor and the State of Nebraska. I thank my fellow commissioners for their support to my role, and their commitment to our state.  I feel honored to serve the people of Nebraska and to help improve the lives of Latinos/ Hispanics” stated Yesenia Peck

Peck also expresses her special recognition and gratitude to the staff members for the outstanding work they are doing to support the Commission, preserve its values and principles, and continue the legacy of past and current Commissioners, especially in those turbulent moments with no Executive Director. Yesenia Peck also thank Governor of Nebraska Pete Ricketts for his support of this organization and his encouragement to her work.
