Jo Giles officially files as candidate for Douglas County Commission

Top priorities: Property taxes, juvenile justice, and
mental health

OMAHA,NE, December 13, 2019 – Jo Giles, a former television journalist, vice president of strategic communications and now public policy professional has formally filed as a candidate for Douglas County Commission District 7. Giles stated, “My campaign is off to
a great start and making it official today strengthens my commitment to criminal justice reform, long-term mental health services, increased transparency, and holding the line on property tax rates for the people of Douglas County.”

District
7 encompasses a large swath of the county, spanning from Elkhorn to the Missouri River, and includes a diverse constituency.

A dedicated community volunteer, Giles currently serves on the board of directors for Fontenelle Forest and will be the incoming board president of the Omaha Public Library Foundation. She is a member of the Leadership Omaha Class 37 and a 2012 recipient of
the Midlands Business Journal 40 under 40 award.

Her bachelor’s degree is from Washington University in St. Louis; her master’s degree is from the University of Missouri-Columbia and she has a certificate in public health from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
