¡Por favor! Esté atento, infórmese y eduque a su familia, amigos, vecinos y los demás sobre las estafas.
Hoy recibí tres llamadas de un supuesto empleado de la compañia de electricidad OPPD (Omaha Public Power District). La primera llamada era de una mujer que dijo ser representante de OPPD y me informó que la compañía habia enviado un aviso de suspensión del servicio debido a que mi medidor de luz no se había reemplazado.
La segunda y tercera personas que llamaron decían lo mismo. Parecía ser que habían suplantado el número de teléfono, porque en mi identificador de llamadas si mostraba ser de OPPD. Incluso me dieron un número de teléfono de “notificación” para llamar y configurar la instalación del nuevo medidor y me proporcionaron un “número de referencia”.
Como puede ver ¡son astutos! Al colgar, llamé a OPPD y les conté sobre mi conversación con los supuestos representantes; sin embargo, el verdadero representante de la compañía de electricidad me informó que habían recibido varias llamadas de este tipo y me agradeció por toda la información que le proporcioné y me pidió también el número del cual me llamaron para archivarlo.
Si esto le sucede, tome el número de teléfono y/o cualquier otra información que se le proporcione y avísele a la persona en línea que usted llamará a la empresa directamente para verificar. Asegúrese de compartir la información sobre la estafa con todos sus contactos para prevenirles.

La compañia OPPD también ha atendido a los clientes que han informado sobre llamadas que dicen ser representantes del NPPD (Nebraska Public Power District) exigiendo el pago o su electricidad

Please! Be vigilant. Educate yourselves and share this with family, relatives, neighbors and others. I personally received three phone calls today.
One was from a female claiming to be a representative from OPPD advising me that OPPD had sent out a shut off notice due to my meter not being replaced.
The second and third callers said the same thing. They obviously had spoofed the phone number as it did show on my caller ID that it was actually OPPD. They even gave me a “notification” phone number to call to
set up the installation of the new meter and provided me with a “reference number”.
After hanging up, I called OPPD and told them about the conversation I just had and the nice OPPD gentleman informed me that they had been receiving these types of calls and appreciated that I had reported it to them and asked for any phone numbers they had used. If this should happen to you, take down the phone number and/or any other information they provide and you can advise the caller that you will call the company directly to verify. Be sure to share the information about the scam with all your contacts.

OPPD has also responded to customers reporting calls from someone claiming to be with NPPD and demanding payment or be shut off. If you get this call, hang up, call 402-536-4131. Try to capture the phone # they are calling from.
