Human Rights Forum & OLLAS Charla: “ Protests and Change in Venezuela and Beyond: Current Human Rights Issues in Latin America”

Join the UNO’s Goldstein Center for Human Rights and [unomaha.edu/ollas]The Office of Latino/Latin American Studies (OLLAS) for a Human Rights Forum & OLLAS Charla to discuss the current human rights issues in Latin America.

Multiple countries in Latin America have experienced massive protests and/or change in governance in the last year, with significant human rights implications. This forum will help attendees understand what is happening now in Venezuela and elsewhere, from UNO faculty with expertise in political and social issues in Latin America.

Speakers include Dr. Cristián Doña-Reveco, OLLAS director and associate professor of Sociology/Anthropology, and Dr. Brett Kyle, assistant professor of Political Science & OLLAS faculty member. The session will be moderated by Dr. Laura Alexander, assistant professor of Religious Studies and Goldstein Family Community Chair in Human Rights.

Refreshments will be provided, and this event is free and open to the public.

It will take place on Tuesday, February 11th from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center (CEC) Room 230- 231.
