Northeast students selected as members of the Nebraska Intercollegiate Band

 

 

NORFOLK – Dos estudiantes del Northeast Community College han sido reconocidos por sus excepcionales habilidades musicales.

Estefany Mendevil-Rodriguez y Seth Rivest han sido seleccionados para participar en la banda anual Intercolegial de Nebraska. El grupo está formado por aproximadamente 90 destacados instrumentistas de colegios y universidades de Nebraska.

El Nebraska Intercolegiate Band se presentará el viernes 3 de marzo a las 8 pm en el Kimital Recital Hall del campus de la Universidad de Nebraska-Lincoln después de dos días de ensayos intensivos. El concierto es uno de varios que serán realizados durante la convención estatal anual de la Asociación de Bandmasters del Estado de Nebraska.

Mendevil-Rodríguez, un percusionista, es un graduado de Norfolk Senior High School y fue seleccionado como miembro de la All State Band de Nebraska (High School). Al completar sus estudios en el Northeast Community College, se trasladará a la Escuela de Minas y Tecnología de Dakota del Sur en Rapid City, SD, para obtener un título en ingeniería civil.

Rivest, quien interpreta a la tuba, es graduado de Osborne Park Senior High School en Manassas, VA. Él está persiguiendo un grado en ciencia conductual en el Northeast. Él y su hija viven en Battle Creek.

Mendevil-Rodriguez y Rivest son miembros de la Banda de Conciertos del Northeast Community College, dirigida por Kevin McLouth, instructor de música y director de actividades instrumentales en el Noreste.

McLouth, dijo que está contento de que Mendevil-Rodríguez y Rivest hayan sido seleccionados para este honor.

NORFOLK – Two Northeast Community College students have been recognized for their exceptional musical abilities.

Estefany Mendevil-Rodriguez and Seth Rivest have been selected to participate in the annual Nebraska Intercollegiate Band. The group is made up of approximately 90 outstanding instrumentalists from colleges and universities across Nebraska.

The Nebraska Intercollegiate Band will perform on Friday, March 3, at 8 p.m. in the Kimball Recital Hall of the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln following two-days of intensive rehearsals. The concert is one of several that will be performed during the annual Nebraska State Bandmasters Association state convention.

Mendevil-Rodriguez, a percussionist, is a graduate of Norfolk Senior High School and was selected as a member of the Nebraska (High School) All State Band. Upon completing her studies at Northeast Community College, she will transfer to the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD, to pursue a degree in civil engineering.

Rivest, who plays the tuba, is graduate of Osborne Park Senior High School in Manassas, VA. He is pursuing a degree in behavioral science at Northeast. He and his daughter, live in Battle Creek.

Mendevil-Rodriguez and Rivest are members of the Northeast Community College Concert Band, directed by Kevin McLouth, music instructor/director of instrumental activities at Northeast.

McLouth, said he is pleased Mendevil-Rodriguez and Rivest have been selected for this honor.

“They will get the chance to perform in a great facility with other great musicians and make some great music and memories.”
